MOLDGREEN won the Huddersfield Conservative League’s Autumn Cup after a tense play-off against Lockwood Con.

Both teams were tied on 139-points each with Moldgreen clawing back a 26-point deficit that Lockwood had gained after the first four games.

In the play-off Moldgreen’s Jon Metcalfe beat Jason McMahon 11-2 and when Ashley Tattersley and Rob Cox got to 6-6, victory was Moldgreen’s, which prompted celebration for the team, captained by Andrew Wilson.

The club have enjoyed a fine season with the A team, who were promoted to the Subscription Cup – the top flight of the Huddersfield Bowling League – at the start of the season finishing fifth, while the B team won the Ingham Cup by a massive 40-point margin from Hemplow BC B to cap a fine campaign.
