THONGSBRIDGE are the pacesetters in the Slawit& Golcar Cars Huddersfield Bowling League.
With champions Netherton Con already losing one of their first three games in a tentative start, their perennial challengers from the Holme Valley have opened up a four-point lead over Lower Hopton in the Subscription Cup.
Netherton Con are a further five points adrift – nine behind the 2009 champions Thongsbridge.
Elsewhere in the Subscription, two of the promoted clubs, Clayton West BC and Kirkheaton Con, will be pleased to have won two of their first three matches to presently hold reasonably high positions in the fledgling table.
In the Drayton Cup, strong promotion favourites Canalside Sports also had a shock when they lost their first match, which will have reminded them that they will have to be at their best to ensure a successful season.
They trail promoted and unbeaten Newsome WMC by four points.
In the other Cups, Crosland Moor BC B have taken an early lead in the Littlewood, while Kirkheaton Con B and Lockwood Con C have set out their stalls with three big wins each in the Bamforth and Ingham respectively.
Springwood BC, another 100% team, lead the 10-man Beaumont, with Lindley BC B again unbeaten in the eight-man Binns – the other 100% teams Ravensknowle Park and Linthwaite Hall B being close on their heels.
