MANY of the district’s top bowlers are involved in the Linthwaite C&BC Super 32 on Sunday, October 24.

There is total prize money of £1,400, with £550 to the winner, and the action gets under way at 10.30 (practice up to 10.15).

The runner-up will collect £300, with the semi-finalists picking up £125 each and the quarter-finalists £75, while sponsor George Shelton is also putting up a £50 prize for the highest break.

Dress code is in operation and there is a reserve list of players in case of withdrawals.

The club will be open from 9am with breakfast being served and hot and cold food available all day. The bar will also be open throughout.

Graham Hirst will be running a book for the event and entry is £1, with Under 16s free.

Paul Sigsworth and Caron McGrath suffered a first-round exit in the British Centenary Mixed Pairs final.

The Huddersfield duo were beaten 21-10 by Shropshire pairing Cheryl Caswell and Scott Harries in the event at Calderfield BC and Eton BC in Liverpool.

Winners overall were Merseyside’s Lynsey Gorman and Terry Glover, who defeated Lyn Pratchett and Mel Evans (Staffordshire) 21-17.
