YORKSHIRE had only four wins at Milnsbridge BC as they surprisingly lost to Derbyshire in the County Championship.

The White Rose men went down 229-201 at the Huddersfield venue while the away team were 211-201 winners – meaning an overall defeat by 430-412.

It was a disappointing outcome for the Crossfield Cup champions, whose winners at Milnsbridge were Graeme Wilson (Lower Hopton), John Spinks (Alverthorpe), Jack Dyson and Ashley Daykin (both Netherton Con).

Spinks was the best winner, running away to a 21-6 success against Colin Leishman. Man of match was Derbyshire’s Richard Peach, who beat Dave Cooper to nine.

At the away venue, Nathan Webster (Alverthorpe) had a superb 21-2 win, while James Hanson and Liam Griffin (both Pudsey BC) won to 10 and 12 respectively.

Yorkshire’s next match is against Shropshire on June 3.
