Hazel Lunn, of Almondbury Liberal Club, plays Brenda Hirst in the final of the Almondbury village lady bowlers Fenay Trophy final.

The event, featuring a first prize of £100, is sponsored by the village’s Liberal and Bowling Clubs and the final takes place at the bowling club on Saturday (6.45).

Six-time winner Lunn has won the Trophy in 1983, 86, 1990, 94, 2001 and 2007.

Also in the final is four-time winner Bronwyn Thewlis (1984, 88, 1993 and 97), Yvonne Heaume (2000) and Elaine Hirst (2006).

Heavy rain didn’t stop play as Marsh Liberal Club ladies day was played to a conclusion.

The event was sponsored by Merginn Guest House, Blackpool, who provided the winners with a voucher to stay for a weekend for two while all finalists received vouchers off the cost of accomodation.

Timothy Taylors’ brewery also supported the event, while a donation from a raffle went to the Forget-Me-Not Trust.
