GRAHAM BROOK of Netherton Con is the new name on the Huddersfield & District Veterans Rosebowl.

He bowled consistently well throughout and beat Eddie Haigh of Lockwood Con 21-7 in the final.

He picked up most of his points bowling a mark thumb peg into the corner by the entrance, followed by finger peg back across the crown to a point halfway across the green.

On that mark back across the crown it was all about length – if a wood was still moving when it got to the jack it was downhill all the way and his opponents could end up yards through. Brook expressed thanks to Armitage Leisure Services for their continued support of the event and to Ian Armitage personally for presenting the prizes.

He also thanked Lindley Bowling Club for their hospitality, the bar and catering staff for their time and efforts, the measurers and referee Harry Maxwell.

Finally the winner thanked the greenkeeper, who produced a superb surface.
