HUDDERSFIELD Indoor Bowling Club's Michael Hick, is set to achieve an ambition when he makes his debut for England Under 25s this weekend.
Hick will feature in the British Home International series at Islwyn IBC, South Wales.
Hick got a taste of the international scene when he was reserve for England U25s when they were beaten by Wales in November, but now he is hoping to grasp his opportunity with both hands to stake his place within the England international team.
Unfortunately, Huddersfield's gallant run in the Denny Plate came to an end when they were beaten comprehensively by Leicester IBC last weekend.
The home team had only one winning rink at Huddersfield while the opposition managed to force a draw in the other rink while proving to be just too strong all round by winning their own two home rinks at Leicester.
It was a good effort by Huddersfield who reached the last 16 of this prestigious national competition but they now turn their attention towards Yorkshire County League success which resumes in a fortnight.
* In crown green bowling, Mirfield Association president Dougie Mellor has revealed that the Mirfield Merit and Mirfield Pairs finals will be played in Huddersfield on Sunday, July 29.
Crosland Moor Manor will host the Pairs (10.30) before the Merit final takes place at Lockwood Conservative Club.
Pegasus Racing and PM Autos will continue their sponsorship for a third year.
