HUDDERSFIELD Veterans are again hosting the One-day Competition between the eight districts on Tuesday, with the final at Meltham No1 at 5pm.

The local association are hoping for another success after winning in 2006, when they defeated big rivals Sheffield in the final, and the Hickson Trophy is up for grabs along with a prize of £200..

The competition is played between teams of 12 with a maximum of two Huddersfield home bowlers at each venue.

Team selectors – captain Frank Greenwood, vice-captain Eddie Haigh and manager Derek Gee – will select from:

D Burnand, D Crowther, D Garner, B Gibson, F Greenwood, F Griffin, E Haigh, G Howe, J Hoyle, S Manson, M Mccluskey, B Morley, B O'Prey, T Randerson, R Sutton, T Sykes.

Quarter final draw (10am) – Bradford v Huddersfield at Golcar Lib, Castleford v Spen Valley at Milnsbridge BC, Skipton v Leeds at Thongsbridge, Sheffield v Halifax at Almondbury BC.

In the semi-finals at 1.30, the winners from Golcar and Milnsbridge will play at Meltham No2 and the winners from Thongsbridge and Almondbury will play at Lockwood & Salford Conservative Club.

The final is at Meltham No1 at 5pm.

The organising committee of the Huddersfield & District Veterans BA ask members to attend at the Huddersfield team venues to give their support and encouragement.
