HUDDERSFIELD’S county ladies are in a very celebratory mood.

A strong contingent helped Yorkshire Ladies secure a 447-395 Inter-county victory over Staffordshire.

Yorkshire were very strong in the home leg, played at Wakefield BC under Broad Oak captain Joan Wrigley, and the Huddersfield bowlers were unbeaten as they chalked up a 240-190 scoreline.

It was very close in the away tie at Silverdale BC, but Yorkshire again came out on top by just two points, 207-205.

Victorious at home were Linda Gledhill (New Mill), Ann HInchcliffe (Lockwood Con), Julie Best (Marsh U), Marie Lockwood (New Mill), Lynda Drury (New Mill) and Jean Gee (Marsh U).

Away from home, Pauline Wilde (Lockwood Con), Karen Whitefoot (Marsh U), Jacqui Roper (Meltham) and Suzanne Howarth (New Mill) were among the winners.
