HUDDERSFIELD Indoor Bowls Club are riding high at the top of the Yorkshire County League.

They maintained their lead at the top of Division I after a great 16-2 victory against Doncaster.

The result also came as a timely boost ahead of Saturday's Denny Cup National Knockout competition against Blackburn IBC.

Despite Huddersfield never having visited the Blackburn venue before, the team are confident that they can progress.

At Huddersfield Sports Centre: No1 P R Green, No2 C Lloyd, No3 D Crowther, skip T Machen. No1 D Hughes, No2 B Summers, No3 G Howe, skip W Hirst.

At Blackburn IBC: No1 B Sugden, No2 S Carling, No3 J Dudding, skip J Dyson. No1 S Smith, No2 H Hick, No3 M Sykes, skip M P Hick.

On Sunday Huddersfield's mixed team were in action in another national competition, the Edham Trophy, but were beaten by a Hornsea side which featured current World Outdoor Champion of Champions winner, Mark Walton.

Yorkshire's Under 25 Double Rink team, featuring Huddersfield's England reserve player Michael Hick and current England International Paul Mosley (Thornaby) faced huge disppointment when they lost to Lincolnshire IBC.

Lincolnshire pulled off a major shock after beating last year's finalists Yorkshire.

Mosley, however, skipped the only England winning rink in the recent International against Wales Under 25s.

England, featuring Huddersfield's Michael Hick as travelling reserve, were outplayed by the Welsh side and lost 80-70.
