JACK CHESSWAS won his first individual title by beating Nathan Haigh in the Huddersfield Under 18 Boys Merit at Broad Oak.

In the semi final, Chesswas took on Anton Haigh and won a very tough game 21-17. Haigh beat clubmate Harry Lumb in his semi final 21-12.

In the final, both players played super bowls and, after 15 ends, the score was very close at 9-8 to Chesswas.

He then got into his stride and soon got into a 15-10 lead, which soon reached 20-10. With game against him, Haigh took the next end to make the score 20-12 but Chesswas saw out the last end to take the title.

Haigh was very sporting after the game in complimenting his opponent’s game. The trophy was presented by competition secretary Kev Walsh, who also thanked Broad Oak and the officials.
