PETER KAIN, a 5/1 shot at the start of play, won the Griffin Bowling Club’s second Sixteen of the winter bowling season.

And Kain rose to the occasion and take victory with a 21-12 against Richard Brook in the final.

En-route to his success Kain beat David Walkden 21-10, Ashley Daykin 21-8 and Mick McCluskey 21-9 while Brook finished on the winning end of two 21-20 games before reaching the final and he said: “Peter was the best player all day and I was lucky to get to the final.”

This weekend sees the start of qualifying for the Pairs competition, sponsored by Duncan Reeves, with preliminary rounds held on Saturday (1.00, two qualifiers) and Sunday (11.00, six qualifiers).
