Mark Sykes won the latest Griffin Sixteen – his first ever success at the club.

He beat Ronnie Wormald 21-17 in the final, sponsored by Jack Dyson, but only after a battle.

Winning the toss and starting from the centre of the green – a Griffin tradition – Sykes opened up a 10-0 lead going from crown to a corner and back to the crown.

At the 23rd end, and with Sykes still going well on the back of a 19-9 lead, he let Wormald in and he took advantage well, getting back to 17.

At that point though, Sykes got back in and secured the two he needed for his first win at the Griffin.
