MARK WOOD had a memorable time in reaching the final of the Griffin Rosebowl.

Firstly, he came from miles behind to beat Peter Kain 31-28 in the qualifier sponsored by Lockwood & Salford Conservative Club.

Then, he followed up by beating Yorkshire county bowler Craig Gant 23 to go through to the final along with Mark Sykes, Mark Richardson and Frank Greenwood.

Club president Alan Hirst sprang perhaps the surprise of the day with a 31-30 win over Mark Bramall.

The second qualifier is this coming Sunday, when another four bowlers will go through to the re-drawn final on Sunday, November 4.
