MOLDGREEN CON overcame surprise team of the tournament Marsh Lib to take the £200 first prize in the Colne Valley Bowling League’s Four-Man Team Knockout.

After Marsh Lib had won both singles to go four points in front, Gary Senior and Lee Senior had to restrict Marsh pair Ian Smith and Bob Parish to 16 points or less.

They looked to be up against it at 15-11 down but managed to pull it back and run to 21 to win the competition by two points.

Both the semi-finals went to the wire with Moldgreen Con winning by three points only after John Metcalfe rallied to 18 after being 20-12 down to Golcar Lib’s Mick Hinchliffe.

Crosland Moor won the pairs against Marsh Lib, and with Marsh’s Graham Whitehouse scoring 19 after trailing 19-8 to Crosland Moor’s Glen O’Sullivan, the managed to keep the Moor’s lead down to six.

Steve Morgan then played an outstanding game to beat Terry Giles 21-13 to earn Marsh Lib a place in the final by two points.
