ALMONDBURY BC proved a happy hunting ground for Shipley’s Matthew Jacques.

He proved unstoppable in the Yorkshire Junior Merit, beating Danny Towning (Pudsey Littlemoor) 21-11 in the final.

Towning had beaten Jordan Brown (Wibsey Park) 21-13 to go through, while Jacques defeated Bailey Rice (Harehills) in his semi-final.

Elland Bowling Association’s Junior Handicap, sponsored by Joyce Shaw and the late Doreen Holden, will take place on Sunday at Akroydon Vics.

Latest qualifier in the Marsh Utd £1400 competition is Bridlington bowler and previous winner Andy Deighton (who bowls with Slaithwaite C&BC).

He defeated Craig Gant (Netherton Con) 21-12 to go through.
