CHRISTINE MIZON was delighted after claiming her first individual bowling title.
The Acre Mills-Syngenta star lifted the Huddersfield Ladies Works League Merit after a close tussle against Suzie Ladbrooke before winning through 21-19.
The event was once again sponsored by Longwood Engineering and organisers thanked the company for their continued support over a long number of years.
With only 36 bowlers, the competition was held as a one-day tournament and the quality of the lady bowlers was very high with a good spread of entrants from most of the Works League clubs.
En-route to the final, champion Mizon beat Linda Gledhill, of AJB Floor Coverings, 21-13 and Hazel Rangeley, also of AJB, 21-9 to book her showdown against Holmes Dresser’s Ladbrooke.
And in the final, Mizon was quick to stamp her authority, taking a 10-5 and 16-11 lead, before a five break by Ladbrooke put her right back in contention.
Mizon hit back to lead 19-16 but Ladbrooke scored three singles to draw level.
But two singles at the end were scored by Mizon to present her with victory.
