NEIL SMALL won his first big title when he picked up the Spring Handicap honours.

The four handicapper from Lindley Lib defeated Peter Kain (Lockwood Con, 2) 21-9 in the showpiece at Huddersfield RUFC BC.

Small was pushed closest in the first round by Huddersfield Association competition secretary Andrew Wadsworth (Canalside, 3), the final score being 21-19.

Small then kept his cool and his accuracy to go on and land the title.
