TONY YOUNG (right) and Alan Sharpe will be aiming for a record fourth Biltcliffe Trophy triumph.

The 61st staging of the final of the Almondbury men’s singles handicap, sponsored by the village’s Liberal and Bowling Clubs, takes place tomorrow at Almondbury BC (6.30).

Young claimed the trophy in 1972, 1986 and 1997 while Sharpe won it in 1993, 1996 and 1999 and following hot in their footsteps is Terry Machen with three wins in 1975, 1979 and 1990.

A minute’s silence will be held prior to the final in honour of Basil Falck, a popular member of Almondbury Bowling Club and a former sponsor of this competition, who died last Saturday morning.

Along with the trophy the winner will receive £60.

The final of the Huddersfield Conservative League’s Horace Walker Handicap, sponsored by Daisy Lane Books, takes place on Monday at Almondbury BC (6.30).

The draw will be made on the night from the following players:
