It’s the event featuring Almondbury village junior bowlers and annually proves very popular.

The final qualifiers in the Grosvenors Butchers sponsored Hill Crest Open Pairs are Simon Coupe & Owen Jackson who beat K Nicholas & M Riley 21-13.

The final will take place Saturday at 6.30pm with the draw to be made greenside. There are two former winners in the field, one being Robert Hitchen (who won with Stuart Mort but now partners Yorkshire star Jack Dyson). Sheffield’s Mick Hobson won the competition with elder brother Mel and now teams up with Andy Whittaker. Owen Jackson partners the current Classic champion Simon Coupe. Others in the final include Gareth Coates and Les Holmes, Phil Dowgill and Andy Tate, Richard Hopley and Jason Barker, Phil Davies and Kevin Wainwright and Kevin Trubey and Neil Coupe.

Hazel Lunn and Neil Jones woin the Paddock Con Floodlight competition for the second year running. They beat Y and P Sykes 21-18 in the final.
