PAUL SIGSWORTH hit back in ominous fashion to notch a third win of the winter bowling season in Sunday’s Sixteen at the Griffin Bowling Club.
Sigsworth beat David Walkden, who had beaten the Yorkshire county ace in last week’s Bernard Sigsworth Memorial final, 21-11 and his victory in the Gerald Sykes-sponsored event, denied Walkden a hat trick of successes against his rival.
It was a great performance by Sigsworth in testing conditions featuring rain, sleet, snow, hail and occasional sunshine!

Huddersfield Indoor Bowls Club are the Yorkshire Double Rinks team champions.
The team, based at Huddersfield Sports Centre and captained by Scott Smith, beat Scarborough in the final.
The achievement was all the more remarkable after the near collapse of the club four years ago.
The double rinks is a competition held annually within the county.
Seventeen clubs make up the Yorkshire area and are eligible to take part.
The final eight teams which have won through the preliminary rounds all travel to New Earswick, York, for the final day of competition.
Huddersfield beat Harrogate in their preliminary round to secure a place in the final eight.
Scarborough won group A, scraping past York and District by a single point. Huddersfield, beat Barnsley Metrodome and North Cave in convincing style, then went into the last group game against Featherstone only needing two out of a possible six points to finish top.
The Huddersfield team narrowly lost to Featherstone, but managed to gather the two points necessary to carry them into the final against Scarborough.
A full day of bowling took its toll on both teams, with all players digging deep to maintain concentration and focus.
There was nothing to split the two teams for the majority of the match and during the last three tense ends the experienced Huddersfield players produced a number of telling bowls to finally swing the result of the match in their favour.
Only four aggregate points separated the teams at the end, but Huddersfield managed to pull off a prestigious win and captain Scott Smith collected the trophy from Yorkshire County official Phil Parsons.
