IRREPRESSIBLE Paul Sigsworth won a third sixteen competition - a fifth win of the winter season at the Griffin - with a 21-17 victory against Mark Bramall.

It was a repeat of last week's Jacko's Memorial final, in which Sigsworth beat Bramall 21-14.

Sigsworth crept into Sunday's event as a reserve, and despite Bramall carving out a 17-15 lead, he failed to beat his nemesis and slipped to a third defeat in a final.

Steve Pollard reached his first semi-final in his debut season with good wins against experienced George Fellowes and Brian Morley.

Members are reminded to get their names down for the Bernard Sigsworth Memorial, played over three weekends from February 25.

Draw for Sunday's sixteen, sponsored by R V Sykes (Sigsworth gives 3 start and Richardson gives 1 start):

First round: M Pollard (20) v A Wadsworth (20), G Whitehead (16) v D Reeves (6), R Brook (7) v J Abbott (20), R Mudd (8) v B Tinker (50), R Wormald (5) v H Ellis (20), R Whitwam (14) v B Taylor (33), E Haigh (9) v P Sigsworth (6/4), M McCluskey (20) v M Richardson (14).
