AS THE Slawit & Golcar Cars League takes the usual early-season break for Cup and Individual competitions, it’s interesting to assess how the various Cups are going.

It will perhaps be no surprise that Thongsbridge C&BC and Netherton Con are unbeaten at the top of the Subscription – Thongsbridge with a six-point cushion.

The also unbeaten Lockwood Con are a further eight points adrift in joint third with Lower Hopton, who have lost just one match.

As expected, the Drayton certainly looks to be the most competitive competition this year.

No-one is still unbeaten and a plethora of teams are chasing Marsh United BC, who hold a tenuous one-point lead.

Paddock C&BC have taken an unbeaten lead in the Littlewood, being chased closely by Kirkheaton Con B, who themselves have also yet to taste defeat.

Lowerhouses Community BC’s 100% record in the Bamforth puts them in a strong position, while the same can be said for Lower Hopton B in the Ingham, their latest win being a 16-0 trouncing of Brockholes BC B.

They will, however, be looking over their shoulders at Meltham BC B who are also 100% winners to date.

Kirkheaton Con C lead the Beaumont without a defeat, but also unbeaten are Paddock I&C A and Outlane BC A, who both have a game in hand.

In the eight-man team competitions, New Mill Club may well be the team to beat in the Binns, while it looks like the D teams from the two Conservative Clubs at Kirkheaton and Lockwood will be fighting it out for the Taylor.

Battle in all the Cups recommences on Saturday, June 16.

If teams wish to consider bringing any later-season matches forward into the intervening weeks, they must ensure they liaise with League secretary Neil Hinchliffe so that there is no inadvertent clashing of matches on any greens.
