AS we go into the middle season break for four of the Cups, it’s interesting to take stock of matters in a fascinating Slawit & Golcar Cars League season.
The Subscription Cup is looking tight between the two usual protagonists, especially after Thongsbridge’s recent loss to Spen Victoria.
This emphasises the importance of the upcoming clash between the current champions and Netherton Con on the Canalside Front green on August 18.
Elsewhere, the Drayton Cup is proving as tight as anticipated with as many as 10 teams having a chance to push for the three promotion places to the top flight.
The Littlewood and Bamforth Cup leaders, Paddock C&BC and Thongsbridge B respectively, had been looking strong, but both faced defeat on Saturday to bring them back to the chasing packs.
Meltham B and Lower Hopton B seem strong contenders for the top two Ingham Cup places, while Kirkheaton Con C and Paddock C&BC B appear to be out on their own at the moment in the Beaumont and Binns Cups.
The Taylor Cup is, however, a different kettle of fish with Kirkheaton Con D, Holmfirth BC and Lockwood Con D anticipated to be battling it out all season.
