THE Subscription Cup title battle is looming large.
With just two matches remaining, holders Netherton Conservative and Thongsbridge C and BC are going neck and neck in a what is turning into a championship thriller.
Both won 9-7 last weekend, with leaders Netherton holding onto their three-point lead by beating Lindley Liberal, and Thongsbridge staying in close order by overcoming Slaithwaite C and BC B.
Down at the bottom it could be any three from a few, it’s that close.
Elland CA and BC look near certainties unless they have an amazing run, but Cowcliffe Liberal, Golcar Liberal, Marsh U and Meltham are all in the mix, with only Meltham gaining a victory last Saturday as they beat Elland 12-4.
The Littlewood Cup is also set for an interesting finish with Lindley Liberal B, Grange Moor BC and Broad Oak the main contestants, and with the Oak due to play Lindley at Paddock C and BC in the last series of matches on September 22, and Grange Moor meeting Netherton Con at Thongsbridge, all is set for a tremendous climax.
Cleckheaton Sports and Slaithwaite are clear away in the Bamforth Cup and both had big wins at the weekend to emphasise their positions at the top.
Sports demolished Broad Oak 13-3 while Slaithwaite were even more dominant in thumping Crosland Moor Manor 15-1.
