STACIE SHAW and Robert Hopper were the cream of the crop as they took their respective Huddersfield Girls and Boys Under 16 Merit titles at Crosland Moor Liberal Club.

The girls’ final was poised to be a close encounter but Shaw soon stamped her authority on the match.

Chelsea Gilbert had been in fine form all morning but she had to work very hard to beat Chloe Ghaffar in the semi-final.

Shaw, however, looked comfortable during the game and apart from the odd end taken by Gilbert, she ran out a worthy winner, 15-6.

The boys final was a closer game with Bradley and Colnebridge teammates Hopper and David Ryding vying for honours.

The game was evenly matched until Ryding got the block and opened up an 11-8 lead, and then a 13-10 lead but Hopper dug deep and ran the game out to win 15-13.
