CHRIS ASTON believes both Tyrone Nurse and his fellow Huddersfield boxer Alistair Warren will be back on the title trail in the new year.

The pair fight on the BoxNation bill at Halifax’s North Bridge Leisure Centre on Friday November 11 – and trainer Aston has told them to catch the eye in front of the Sky TV cameras.

Former British Masters light-welterweight champion Nurse, 21, fresh from stopping Hungarian Istvan Kiss in five rounds at Sheffield, faces another continental foe in Ivan Godor.

The Slovakian 31-year-old, nicknamed Little Dragon, gave Manchester’s Karl Place a tough fight before going down on points over six rounds in Bolton earlier this month.

Nurse goes for a 20th win in as many professional bouts, and Aston said: “It will be an interesting gauge of where we are at.

“Place is eighth in the British rankings and Tyrone 12th, so the challenge will be to do a better number on Godor than he did.

“Godor is a game fighter, so we’ll show him proper respect, but it’s a good opportunity for Tyrone to underline his credentials.”

The only defeat on 24-year-old Warren’s card came a year ago, when he went to Geneva to challenge Frenchman Hugo Kasperski for the WBC youth super-middleweight title.

The boxer better known as Burt has won his last two fights for an overall record of 8-1-1 and will aim for a hat trick against Doncaster’s Jason Ball, 27.

“He’s durable and comes for a fight, and this has all the makings of an entertaining bout,” explained Aston.

“Like Tyrone, Burt can put himself in the picture with an eye-catching performance, and I believe he’s more than capable of a title challenge next year.”

Huddersfield hopeful Jason McCalmon,23, goes for a sixth win in six at super-middleweight against Robert Studzinski.

The 35-year-old Pole stopped Halifax’s Shazad Hussain on the last bill at North Bridge and Aston added: “The warning is there.

“Studzinski can punch strongly with either hand, so Jason will have to use his skills and make sure he doesn’t get tagged.”

McCalmon’s fellow former Rawthorpe amateur Scott Gladwin, popular Liam Walsh and Hussain will also be fighting on a bill which will be topped by a yet-to-be-confirmed championship bout.
