TYRONE NURSE will finally get the chance to fight Baz Carey next month.

The Huddersfield boxer was due to meet the seasoned Coventry campaigner in his second professional fight on the Ricky Hatton-Juan Lazcano show in May.

But no time slot was available in Manchester, spelling frustration for the 18-year-old lightweight.

Now promoters Frank Maloney and Steve Wood have rescheduled the contest for the first Sky Sports show of the new season, at Nottingham on Friday, September 5.

Nurse was a solid points winner over Nuneaton’s Kristian Laight when he made his pro debut over four rounds in Barnsley in March.

Carey, 37, will be fighting for the 53rd time at the Harvey Haddon Stadium, and while he has won only 11 times, he seldom gets stopped in defeat.

Nurse has been sparring with Hatton’s brother Matthew, who also appears at Nottingham.

The fight will be over four rounds and ticket details are available from Chris Aston on 07917 881114.

Sky, meanwhile, have agreed a “multi-fight” deal with Amir Khan.

The Commonwealth lightweight title holder has boxed on ITV since turning pro in 2005.
