NEW favourite Adil Anwar says he would love to meet Huddersfield star Tyrone Nurse in tonight’s Prizefighter final.

With a £32,000 first prize up for grabs in the Betfair-sponsored sell-out, Anwar believes a showdown with his good friend from the Chris Aston stable at Linthwaite would be the ideal finale.

Anwar, 24, who is known as the Platinum Kid, wants to win the Wolverhampton Civic Hall show live on Sky TV so that he can earn a shot at Ashley Theophane, and has vacated his English welterweight title for the opportunity to do so.

But he recognises it won’t be easy, with unbeaten Nurse being backed by none other than Ricky Hatton to make his biggest impact yet at top level.

Anwar said: “Tyrone is a good friend of mine, and he’s a quality operator.

“We’ve sparred together on many occasions and it’s been really competitive.

“He puts his shots together really well. I hope we get to meet in the final.”

Nurse, 22, is in the very best shape for tonight’s eight-fighter event, which is rated possibly the best Prizefighter bill so far thanks to the quality of the Light Welterweights on view.

Another man with an unbeaten record before tonight is Dale Miles, and he is rated at 7/2 alongside Nurse in the betting.

Meanwhile, West Bromwich’s Young Mutley will be making his first appearance in the ring since his defeat to Frankie Gavin in May last year.

The former British Welterweight champion will want to use the 23rd edition of Prizefighter as a springboard to bigger things, and with odds of 9-1 the 35-year-old will attract attention as the most experienced campaigner in the line-up.

Others up against Nurse are Liverpool’s John Watson, Barry ‘The Bizness’ Morrison, 36-year-old Mark Lloyd and Wolverhampton’s Dean Harrison.
