TYRONE NURSE will step up his Prizefighter preparations next week when he heads to Scotland to spar with world champion Ricky Burns.

It’s a tough assignment for the Huddersfield 22-year-old, who aims to prove himself the best of the light-welterweight line-up at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on Saturday, February 11.

But trainer Chris Aston, confident his man can become the youngest-ever Prizefighter champion at 22, says Nurse will feel the benefits.

Burns, from Coatbridge near Glasgow, defends his WBO lightweight title against Namibian boxer Paulus ‘The Hitman’ Moses on March 10.

“Tyrone has sparred with him quite a few times now, and Burns doesn’t mess about,” said Aston.

“This will provide a good gauge of where we’re at, both in terms of being ready for February 11 and career progression overall.

“Tyrone is looking in good nick, he’s trained well and he’s looking forward to what has all the makings of a great night.”

Prizefighter, screened live by Sky, pits eight boxers in quarter-finals, semis and a final, all over three rounds, with the winner pocketing £32,000.

Lining up alongside Aston at Wolverhampton will be Barry Morrison, Dean Harrison, John Watson, Young Mutley, Mark Lloyd, Adil Anwar and Dale Miles.

“It’s a nice mix of former champions and title challengers as well as prospects,” added Aston.

Nurse, who has won all 20 of his professional fights so far, will be backed by more than 100 fans.
