HUDDERSFIELD Star Wheeler Andy Pearson had a great start to his 2010 road racing season.

He won the fourth Category race in the final round of the Hog Hill Winter League in London.

The hour-long race on the 2km Redbridge Cycle Circuit featured a 10 per cent climb to the finish, which gave 2009 Star Wheelers Hill Climb Champion Pearson a big advantage over the rest of the bunch.

Going into the final climb, Pearson was well placed at the front of the bunch until halfway up the incline, when he launched a stinging attack and won comfortably by 20m on the chasing pack.

Not only did Pearson claim his first-ever road race win, but he also gained enough points to get his 3rd Category racing licence.
