FOUR Huddersfield darts players helped Yorkshire thrash Surrey 10-2.

Scott Waite was man-of-the-match with a 30-plus average in his win, while other victories were chalked by John Haigh (29-plus), Trevor Manning (28-plus) and Brian Hallas Jnr.

Peter Jaques won for the B team, who also triumphed 10-2, while Pam Haigh was top player for the women’s team in their 3-3 draw against Surrey, which included a win for Cindy Jennings. The women’s B team won 5-1 against the same opposition.

In the Darts Super League, Honley Socialist beat Broomfield Halifax 7-1 with Wayne Holland man of the match and Manning also high in the averages in his win. Other winners were Haigh, Bob Charlton, Bob Parker and John Jagger.

And the following week Manning was still celebrating after winning the Summer League’s Individual title beating Mark Wainwright 2-0 in the final at Turnbridge WMC.

Wainwright produced a fantastic semi-final victory against Waite, who is the world’s No3 player in the British Darts Organisation, and several Yorkshire and England players contested the last sixteen.

Elsewhere, Yorkshire A beat Cambridge 8-4 with Manning and Jamie Wilson recording victories and the Men’s B team also won 9-3.

The Ladies A team drew 3-3. Pam Haigh (Yorkshire Victoria), who had been promoted to the top team made her debut but lost out while Lynne Horne won as the Ladies’ B team won 4-2.
