HOLMFIRTH Harriers scored a double success as Dave Watson and Margaret Sykes lead the way home at the Bingley meeting.
The latest round of the Yorkshire Veterans Athletics Association’s multi-terrain Grand Prix series was run over a hilly course on tracks and fields and on a day of almost continuous rain was not too muddy.
Starting with a difficult climb for the first 200 metres the field were soon well spread and Watson soon took up his usual position at the front of the field, but was closely followed by Gavin Mulholland from Stainland.
While never able to open a big gap Watson was never really challenged and came in first in the race seven seconds ahead of the second placed runner.
Sykes continued her excellent recent form and was first lady home and 22nd overall – one and a half minutes ahead of the next lady.
