A first-round five-under-par 66 for Aaron Schnacke helped Fixby clinch the Halifax-Huddersfield Scratch Team Championship title at Saddleworth.

His second-round 74 gave him a total of 140 to post the best gross score, two shots ahead of Dewsbury District’s Daniel Hartley (74-68-142), who was just ahead of clubmate James Ward (70-73-143).

All four Fixby players were on top form. Charles Webb posted a 146, Brad Tupman 147 and Thomas Calvert 150.

This was just enough to pip runners-up Dewsbury District, who finished on 585, by two shots. The Dewsbury team was Hartley, Ward, Benjamin Crowther and Matty Colcombe.

Todmorden were in third place.

At the other end of the results table, Woodsome Hall, Outlane, Ryburn, and Hanging Heaton were all relegated and will play in the Second division next year.

The event was sponsored by Glenbrae British Knitwear.
