Bradley Hall’s Brad Haywood had a day to remember at the Outlane Invitation event.

Not only did he and Outlane junior  Matthew Beaumont scoop top prize with a 63 nett, but he also had a hole-in-one at the 16th – where he unsurprisingly won the Nearest the Pin prize.

Sadly, he was not able to celebrate in the traditional manner, as Haywood (pictured above) is only 16-years old.

However, his effort was praised by former Union President Richard Kay, playing in the same fourball, who said: “We thought we had scored well, but to score an eight-under-par was a remarkable effort as the white markers were as far back as they could be.

“I was the only one in our group not to see the ball go in the hole, but I joined in the celebration when I pulled the ball out!”

In second place was Damian Talbot with Tom Forsyth from Crow Nest with  66 nett, matched by Steve Beeby and Bradley Hall’s Lewis Hopkinson, who finished third on a countback.

Nick Hirst and Mick Appleyard, also from Bradley Hall, were fourth with 67, beating Steve Osborne and Huddersfield’s David Bailey on another  countback. Nearest the Pin in Three Shots on the 18th went to Pat Ralison from Patshull Park .
