Two Dewsbury District Golf Club players have notched up a century between them.

Christine Withers and Bob Oldroyd are  celebrating 50 years continuous membership at the club with both of them having joined the Sands Lane club in 1963.

During the half century, they have both been actively involved in the club, both as players and on the administrative side.

Withers served as Lady Captain in 1970 and was then Lady President during 1975-76.

She has also served on the county committee and served as President of the Yorkshire Veteran Ladies Golf Association during 2011-12.

Oldroyd started as a junior with the club and proudly claims to be the only person to have won the junior, club and seniors titles  at Dewsbury.

He also served as Captain in 2005 and is this year’s Rabbits’ President.

The duo have done a lot to advance and promote Dewsbury District Golf Club over the years a club spokesman said: “We wish to commend and thank them for their efforts over a lot of years and look forward to their continued involvement at the club.”
