JOHN COCKING lifted the Wednesday Society President’s Day Salver.

The Marsden player, off nine, scored 39 points at Elland, the home course of society supremo Denis Edwards.

Division I winner was David Garner, of Bradley Park.

Playing off 13, he recorded 36 points to beat Outlane’s Neil Morrison (14, 33) who beat Meltham’s Chris Naylor (15, 33) on a back-nine countback.

Division II winner was Elland’s Jim Fish (24, 38) ahead of Meltham’s Philip Walton (16, 37) and Dewsbury’s Ronnie Lucas (17, 35).

Next week’s meeting is at Bradley Park.

l Woodsome Hall’s invitation day for the McGill Bowl was won by James Lord (4) and his guest Richard Priddy (8), from Brickhampton, Gloucester, with stableford 44 points.

They won on a countback from Pat Carmody (20) and Sean Mulcahy (Castle Island, Co Kerry, 16).

Richard Holt (2) and Sean Bacon (Matlock, 7) finished third on 42 points, pipping Steve Hirst (18) and Mark Brogden (Northcliffe, 13) in a card play-off.

l Bradley Hall did not stage their Lady Captain’s Cup as one of the competitors was injured.

It will now be played on Thursday, August 3.
