It wasn’t just the horses and riders who were well turned out for Royal Ascot.

Crosland Heath members and their friends pulled out all the stops and donned their finest gladrags for the club’s annual Ascot Day.

Around 70 attended the event, held in the clubhouse which had been bedecked in finery for the occasion.

The Crosland Moor racegoers enjoyed a five-course meal washed down with plenty of bubbles while betting on racing broadcast live from Ascot on a giant screen.

Bookmaking facilities were provided by longstanding Heath member Tony Lockwood.

Judy Vickerman, who with husband Julian were the main organisers of the event, said: “A lot of hard work went in behind the scenes, but it was well worth the effort.

“It was a great day enjoyed by all, with winners and losers along the way. In the end, the weather was really nice as well.

“A big thank you to Tony Lockwood, for helping to make the day such a success, we looking forward to next year already.”

The afternoon and evening raised £400 towards the club’s Centenary Fund for 2014.
