ELLAND golf club raised almost £2,500 towards the Forget-Me-Not Children’s Hospice and will buy a turquoise glass block to mark their contribution.
The money was raised through social events organised by the Ladies section through a wine and cheese evening and a flower demonstration, while the men’s section held a lunch with guest speaker, various competitions and a box on the bar.
Along with rabbits captain Barry Holbrook the captains thanked everyone for their support as they handed over a cheque to fund raiser Kate Goldring, who is pictured above receiving it from last year’s captains, Barry Littlewood and Carmen Leonard
Elland lady members Edith Uttley and Jenny Priestley have reached the third round of the Daily Mail 2012 competition after defeating a West End pairing 3-1 in the previous round.
Meanwhile, Mary Mellor and Sue Duckworth won the club’s Coronation Foursomes with 26 points.
