Gill Travis will be back to defend her scratch title at the Ladies’ Golf Festival, which gets underway on Monday, August 11 at Bradley Hall.

Last year she beat Crosland Heath clubmate Michelle Booth in the final in a tournament dominated by hosts Woodsome Hall and Crosland Heath.

Woodsome Hall’s Antoinete Paxman, recent winner of the Yorkshire Challenge Bowl, will be defending her Huddersfield and Halifax handicap title.

The singles draw is dominated by well-known names, with former winners Sandra Paul, and mother and daughter Anne and Emma Taylor are also in the mix.

A clash of junior events has ensured many of Huddersfield’s young stars will be elsewhere – leaving the way clear for some of the district’s more experienced golfers to battle it out for the honours.

Festival President Pat Bricklebank said: “Gill Travis and Sandra Paul have been drawn first out on Monday so that should make for an interesting two-ball. We are quite happy with the entries, but there are still spaces for the singles and other events.”

The Festival runs from Monday, August 11 to Wednesday, August 13, with a TriAm on the Tuesday and a Greensomes on the Wednesday. Lady golfers of all abilities are invited to enter.
