ANDY WHITWORTH is at it again!

The 10-times winner of the Halifax-Huddersfield Union Matchplay title is through to the quarter-finals at Halifax West End on September 17.

Bradley Hall’s star golfer and Union stalwart defeated Dewsbury District’s Chris Gaunt 2&1 to book his place against Ben Adamson of Crow Nest Park in the last eight.

In the other ties, Crow Nest Park’s Nathan Scott will face Brad Tupman of Huddersfield, Tom Williams (Huddersfield) will play clubmate Gary Moolman and Adam Cryer (Woodsome Hall) will take on Tom Calvert of Willow Valley.

The Union Juniors play their final match of the Yorkshire Inter-district season against Teesside at Oak Leaf tomorrow, bidding to build on their victory against Bradford.

A win would push them up to third, whereas a win for Teesside would give them the title ahead of Leeds Union.

Halifax Bradley Hall are holding their extended Rabbits Open on Sunday September 4, when the prize table of vouchers amounts to £700.

It’s a fourball betterball competition, with an extended handicap limit of 10 to 28.

Prizes will be awarded to the first five places, the highest back nine, the best five and three holes, the most accurate drive and nearest the pin on the ninth and 18th.

An application form can be downloaded from the Halifax Bradley Hall Rabbits website at www.halifaxbradleyhallrabbits.co.uk
