CHRIS HOLMES claimed his second win in succession when the Huddersfield Wednesday Golf Society held their latest meeting at Elland with 38 entrants.

The Meltham seven-handicapper, who also won the previous meeting at Outlane, took first prize in Division I with 34 points, but he needed a back six countback after a three-way tie before nailing top spot.

Marsden’s John Cocking and Meltham teammate Steve Whiteley were the other two members to come in with 34 points.

In Division II, Dewsbury’s Hendrick Murray bagged 35 points to win with a three-stroke margin over host club’s Barry Isley with 32, who edged second spot with a better back nine than Dewsbury’s Jimmy Main. The final meeting of the 2011 season is at Crosland Heath next Wednesday.

Div I: Chris Holmes (Meltham) 7-34; John Cocking (Marsden) 11-34; Steve Whiteley (Meltham) 12-34.

Div II: Hendrick Murray (Dewsbury) 16-35; Barry Isles (Elland) 18-32; Jimmy Main (Dewsbury) 16-32.

The latest winners in the Elland Golf Club’s Ladies section were:

GFC:Š winner Annette Bird 91-20=71; runners-up Karen Gledhill 97-25=75.

Audrey Drake: winner Jenny Priestley 29pts, runner-up Tracey Ward 26pts.

GFC & Breakthrough Brooch: winner Janet Evans 89-17=72; runner-up Terry Jackson 107-33=74.

EWGA: winner Carmen Leonard 103-28=72; runner-up Olwyn Hornby 96-21=75.
