WEST END’S Darren Arber earned a place in the Spirotech Manchester Open at Marriott Worsley Hall in August via the East area qualifier at windswept Slaley Hall when 18 players on 80 and better progressed to the championship, a PGA North Region major.
Arber shot 79 for joint 16th spot, eight back leading qualifier Andrew Paisley, from Hexham.
Hanson, runner-up to Nick Ludwell in the Yorkshire Bank-Yorkshire PGA match-play championship last season, has been paired with Kieron O’Brien (Willow Valley) in the first round of this year’s event. Ludwell is drawn against Richard Allen, head professional at Styrrup Hall, Doncaster.
