Golf: Good turn out for Longley’s New Year bash

LONGLEY PARK had a tremendous turnout of more than 50 golfers for their annual New Year’s Day Am-Am tournament.

A total of 13 four-man teams took part in the Stableford Betterball in which the best two scorers counted on each hole. The winning team comprised Charles Hicks, Mark Chadwick, Nick Dworsky and R Armillei, who came in with a very respectable top score of 94 points.

“We were pleased with the turnout, and overall the conditions were pretty good,” said Longley Park professional John Ambler.

“It was just a bit frosty on the top of course early on, and then became damp underfoot later on when it warmed up, but otherwise they were good conditions for our annual New Year’s Day outing.”
