CHRIS HANSON is having a terrific season on the EuroPro Tour and is once again leading in the latest event, the Network Veka Classic at De Vere Mottram Hall in Cheshire.

Currently leading the tour’s Order of Merit after 10 events, and having already secured a place on next year’s Challenge Tour thanks to two outright wins, Hanson fired a five-under 67 to take a three-way share of the lead in the penultimate tour event of the year.

The Woodsome Hall golfer got away to a great start with a birdie and then bagged an eagle at the fourth.

Further birdies followed at the seventh and ninth holes, before he dropped his first stroke of the day on the 13th. He quickly made amends on the 15th with his fourth birdie, before bogeying the 17th, but he finished the round off as he started with a birdie.

That left him tied at the top with Chelmsford’s Chris Housden and Hendon’s Luke Goddard, while Crow Nest Park’s Gareth Evans was in a tie for 39th on one-under.

Hanson took over at the top of the all-important Order of Merit when he finished third in the previous EuroTour event at Lingfield, to leapfrog Doncaster’s Graeme Clark who missed the event.
