CHRIS Hanson, currently without a main sponsor, has signed with new talent management and events company seeitnowsports.com.

He is their first signing and he said: “I am really excited to link up with seeitnowsports.com and we are planning on taking my golf career to the next level over the coming months and years.”

James Beattie, of seeitnowsports.com, said the deal will see Hanson through various aspects of pro life.

“We know Chris has the game to win tournaments at a high level. He is highly regarded in the industry and we intend to mirror his impressive work ethic in assisting him achieve his goals,” said Beattie.

They will include promoting his image and attracting sponsorship, while Hanson will play in company day events for seeitnowsports.com.

Hanson, who raced to the Manchester Open top prize of £2,000 by six shots at Worsley Park in July, created a Yorkshire record by winning the Yorkshire-Sandburn Hall Masters, which earned him £750 then scored a runaway eight shots triumph in the Yorkshire Classic for a £800 pay day.

He fired a course record eight under 64 – a faultless run with eight birdies – in the first round of the Masters then added a seven birdie 65 to win by three from Yorkshire Order of Merit leader Adrian Ambler with Yorkshire Open champion Neil Cheetham a shot further back.

Yorkshire PGA chief Jimmy Pape said: “Hanson’s 129 total, 15 under par, is the lowest ever for a 36-hole Yorkshire PGA tournament. It was an outstanding performance by a young man who has not been a professional all that long.

“He is a credit to the PGA – he turned up for the pro-am thinking a team had been arranged for him and, though that was not the case, he got on the phone and had three amateurs at the course in double-quick time.”

Hanson, 24, who is to get married in December, tied third in the Masters pro-am on 69, five behind Haminder Matharu, from Cookridge Hall, who made his first impact on a PGA event in equalling the new mark of 64 at Sandburn Hall set by Hanson 24 hours before.

Ambler and Queensbury’s Gareth Murray were left eight shots adrift by Hanson’s stunning victory in the Yorkshire Classic as he made 14 birdies to go with three bogies in rounds of 66 67. He was also third on 69 in the supporting pro-am.

His double win earned Order of Merit qualifying points, though Ambler, winner of this week’s North Region St Annes Old Links pro-am – he won by a shot on four under 68 in an event in which Fixby’s Paul Carman tied 18th on 78 – is favourite for the merit title.

Hanson has also reached the last eight of the Yorkshire professional matchplay held by Selby’s Nick Ludwell.

He meets Spencer Edwards, from Acanthis DR and other quarter-final pairings are: Ludwell v Ambler; Rob Kershaw (Mirfield DR) v Alex Belt (Bridlington Links); Andy Rhodes (Keighley) v Matthew Marsh (Hallowes).

Meanwhile, Sandburn Hall, a new stop-off for the PGA off the A64 just past York, will host the Yorkshire Masters for the next two years, providing free use of their course in place of customary sponsorship backing.

Pape said: “It is a magnificent course and the club has top class clubhouse facilities.”
