QUEENSBURY showed that home course knowledge can be invaluable as they won the Halifax, Huddersfield Union’s Nine-Hole Clubs Championship over their own course.

The Bradford area club came home with a score of 194, Paul Cheeseborough leading the way with a nett 63, supported by teammates Karl Smith 64 and Sam Town 67.

Castlefields were second, thanks in main to 10-handicapper Darren Jennings, who won the best Individual Nett round with a stunning 58, helping them to a 196 total, while Longley Park finished third with John Doherty’s 66 winning him the leading gross prize.

Doherty was accompanied by Union Matchplay champion Matthew Colcombe, who carded a 68, while Dave Gilbert came home with a 73.
