HUDDERSFIELD golfer Rochelle Morris has reached the grand final of the Faldo Series.

The 14-year-old county player, who is a member at Crosland Heath and Woodsome Hall, was an outstanding winner of her regional category at Moortown in Leeds.

And the All Saints Catholic College student from Brackenhall will now compete for the title at Lough Erne in Northern Ireland in September, when the Sky TV cameras will be rolling.

Playing off a handicap of six, Rochelle had two excellent rounds at Moortown, which is one of the longer courses in the county for lady players.

She had a one-over-par gross score of 76 in the first round and followed it up with a 79 – giving her a 10-shot victory in the Under 16 section.

Rochelle would, in fact, have won the Under 21 Category by eight shots as well had she been competing at that level – the field including a one-handicap player and a Scotland B international.

Now she’s looking forward to the final of an event which will be played at the Lough Erne club which boasts Rory McIlroy as an attached tournament professional.

Rochelle has been benefiting from winter training with Yorkshire at Sandburn Hall in York, and she’s also been working with the England Super Birdie Squad at Rudding Park, where Pat Smillie and Steve Robinson have been coaching her.

In the latest county warm-up match, the Yorkshire Under 18 girls played Harrogate boys.

Rochelle sealed her match on the last.
