LESS than a month after signing as a trainee assistant with club professional Julian Haworth at Willow Valley, Lee Morrisroe, proved a winner on his second professional outing.
The 21-year-old six-footer, a Leeds Union team player when he was an amateur at Howley Hall and whose long hitting was an eye opener for fellow members at Howley, shot 72 at Moor Allerton, among the most demanding of courses, to win the final Mizuno-Yorkshire PGA Trainees event by a shot.
Morrisroe, from Leeds, worked in the Willow Valley pro shop this summer as a prelude to joining the pro ranks and signing as a trainee assistant.
Selby’s Adam Ledger finished sixth at Moor Allerton, but is a runaway winner of the Order of Merit which earns him £1,000 of playing equipment from the sponsors.
