UNION golfer Matthew Colcombe posted a superb new course record in winning the West End Trophy at the Halifax club.

The Longley Park star had a level-par 70 to start the two-round event, but then followed up with a six-under 64 to take the trophy and £250.

Colcombe fired six birdies and 12 pars in his second round, which won him the best gross and best net prizes – he’s a two handicapper.

The course used to be a par 68 but was recently lengthened to 70.
